Sony XB450 Headphones Review

The Sony XB450 is a budget on-ear headphones. This headphones costs $59, but you can get it for $39.99 on amazon here. The XB450 is available in 5 different colors: Black, White, Yellow, Red, and Blue. I bought the Yellow one and it looks great. The headband is made from plastic, as you would expect on a budget device. But the ear pads are quite nice and comfy, it is covered with leather-like covering.

In daily use this headphone feels quite light and comfortable for long time use. Using this headphone while lying on bed feels nice and comfortable. The ear pads could rotate so you can carry the headphone flat. The sound is clear and crisp, and if you have phones with equalizer, you can change the way it sounds. On my Oppo F1s, I can change the amount of bass, baritone, and treble.

Sony has equipped the XB450 with the "SmartKey" button. This is a single button on the headphone with custom commands to assign. You just need to download the SmartKey app in the PlayStore or Appstore, plug your Sony headphone, and assign the commands you want. I found this feature really helpful when I want to listen to my favorite songs at night without looking at my phone.

The headphone uses a flat cable to reduce tangle, the cable has a length of 1.2 meters and I found sometimes it feels too long. The headphone jack is L-shaped, it is not quite comfortable for smartphones, the headphone jack seems to fit laptops easier with the 90-degree L-jack. For sound quality, Sony uses gold plating on the headphone jack, a feature you won't find on most in-ear headphones.

So let's conclude. The Sony XB450 is a great budget headphone for average users like me. But if you are an audiophile who needs a high quality sound an superb noise cancelling feature, this headphone is not for you. If you travel a lot and you want practicality, you might just want a bluetooth headphone.
